RAW GTO Apprentices and trainees enjoy additional support and assistance. We make sure you receive a fair go at work, are paid correctly and are trained properly. From your first day on the job you are supported by a RAW GTO Field Officer whose job is to care for your welfare and to advocate for you in the workplace.
They are your mentor and friend! You can contact them at any time to help with any pay, work, safety or training issue. RAW GTO makes sure that your Host Employer provides you with a safe workplace. Our friendly payroll staff are also available to assist you with any problems or questions you may have!

Employment Safety Net
RAW GTO wants all of our apprentices and trainees to be successful! Completion of your apprenticeship or traineeship so you can enjoy a successful career is important to us. At RAW our ethos is: Changing Lives by Empowerment Through Economic Independence is our Ethos. RAW GTO gives you and your career absolute priority!
Safety
We care for the safety of all our employees. When placed with a host employer, our Field Officers ensure that your workplace is safe. They work co-operatively with your host employer to ensure you continue to work in a safe manner. Should you have an accident, they’ll investigate + provide support, ensuring you’re back at work ASAP.
RAW GTO Support Staff
You are allocated your own Field Officer to assist you settle in to your host employer. They ensure your training is organised, that you have appropriate protective clothing and that you understand what is expected of you as an apprentice or trainee. Importantly your Field Officer will ensure you are paid what you should be paid, every week, on time.
Better Wages
As an apprentice or trainee you are entitled to receive wages, allowances and working conditions set by an industrial award. As you complete each year of your apprenticeship your pay increases to the next year level.
Government Financial Support
In addition to your wages the Government provides substantial financial assistance to eligible apprentices and trainees. We ensure you get all payments you are entitled to and help you complete the claim forms.

There is more structure to the work I do now – I know what days I’m working and what I have to do. I enjoy Mechanical Plumbing because. it takes some real thinking – everything connects to something else and you have to be thinking all the time, it’s different to bricklaying which was very linear and doesn’t need any planning. INDUCTION & Sign Up
At RAW GTO, we receive applications each month for a range of apprenticeships and traineeships. We also receive a number of enquiries on how to apply for these roles and what our recruitment process involves.
One key thing to note is that RAW GTO is not a recruitment agency. Applying for a job does not mean you have signed up with us and we will automatically find you a job. RAW GTO is a group training organisation, which works a little differently…
A group training organisation (GTO) is an organisation that employs apprentices and trainees, and then places them with a host business who they work for, while receiving on-the-job training for their apprenticeship or traineeship.
HERE IS OUR PROCESS IN MORE DETAIL:
1. Browse our Current Vacancies
If you find a job of interest, click on the title and read the job description. If you think you are suited for the role, click apply, complete the online form, upload your resume and cover letter.
You can also fill out our Expressions of Interest form if there is not a specific job currently available that appeals to you. If a suitable role comes up in the future, our team may contact you to discuss the opportunity.
2. Shortlisting Applications
As previously mentioned, our Recruitment team receive and analyse many applications so it may take a few days to hear back from us. If your application fits the selection criteria, a member of our team will be in touch. We will also advise you if you are unsuccessful
3. Quick Phone Call
We will give you a quick call to discuss the role you have applied for and confirm the location and duties. If you are still interested in the job, we will book you in for an interview.
4. First Round Interview with RAW GTO
You will either come to our office for a face-to-face interview or do the interview online via a video call. Just like any other interview, we will ask you some behavioural and situational questions to determine whether you are suited for the role. You will also complete an application form and an aptitude assessment specific to the trade or industry you have applied for.
5. Reference Check
We will contact your provided references and if everything sounds good, we will proceed with referring you to the Host Employer where the employment is taking place
6. Second Round Interview with Host Employer
You will have the opportunity to meet with the host employer and their team members. They may ask you questions around why you have chosen this career path and on your experience and studies. Some meetings may even include a one-day trial or tour of the job site.
7. Successful Offer of Employment
Congratulations, you have been offered the job! We will contact you to finalise the last few steps. We will advise you of key dates like the first day of employment, induction etc.
8. Online Onboarding
You will receive an email from us with our Policies, Procedures and a copy of your Employment and Training Contracts, which you will need to review and sign before you begin work. You will also provide us with your new starter information such as bank account details, tax file declaration form and superannuation details.
9. INDUCTION & Sign up
At your induction, you will sign your contract to make you nationally recognised as an apprentice or trainee. If you are under 18 years old, if possible, please bring a parent or legal guardian with you to sign the contract on your behalf.
OUR GUARANTEE
AS A RAW GTO APPRENTICE OR TRAINEE:
- We guarantee you will receive the wages and conditions you are entitled to!
- We protect your holiday and other leave entitlements ensuring you get paid!
- We pay your wage increases when they are due! No arguments!
FOR GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
- We advise you of what you are eligible to claim ensuring you get the maximum $ available!
- We help you complete the claim forms and make your claims!
- We ensure you get all payments you are entitled to!
SUPPORT STAFF:
Your Field Officer will make sure that your training is appropriate, will assist with enrolment and arrange payment of your training fees. They will track your performance in conjunction with your host employer and the Training provider. If you need assistance at work or training your RAW GTO Field Officer will arrange it for you.
RAW GTO employs a Payroll team to ensure your pay is processed and reaches your bank account on time every week. The payroll team will assist you with timesheet preparation, pay queries or leave entitlements.
EMPLOYMENT SAFETY NET:
Unfortunately RAW GTO apprentices and trainees can and do lose their jobs! This can be personally devastating and without support a new job in your trade can be difficult to find.
A RAW GTO apprentice or trainee has the support of the RAW Group of companies with job search facilities and resources to ensure you have the best chance of continuing your apprenticeship or traineeship. Should your host employer not be able to provide you with ongoing employment, RAW GTO’s team of Field Officers and recruiters will seek a new placement with another host employer.
As a RAW GTO apprentice your chances of completing your apprenticeship are greatly enhanced due to this unique arrangement.
